Fashion & Gear: Our Thoughts for 2026

The Fashion

If the last few years haven’t been enough proof, what’s acceptable golf attire is a changing, and my god for the better. Golf has been long overdue for a fashion reboot. Just look back to the 70s-00s where golf attire was a proper outfit. Over the past few decades, the style got a bit stale and all to similar, but thankfully we’re pushing through that and its become a lot easier to find an our course style that fits you.

Here’s what we’re looking out for in 2026

Natural textiles

Theres a 99.9% chance every golfer owns these two things: a tech polo and a q-zip. There’s good reason its become the golf uniform but your wardrobe deserves some options. Enter natural textiles. With the exception of extreme scenarios (like a 100% humidity, +30 degree SW Ontario day in August), you can probably rock something that is not synthetic and be just as comfortable. What’s also great about natural fabrics is their off course wearability. A tech fabric golf polo has no place at a nice dinner with your date, but a WHIM merino polo absolutely does. Layering with lightweight merino or lightweight cashmere like this Quiet Golf monogram sweater gives an entirely different vibe to an outfit. Try some different fabrics and watch the heads turn.

Footwear

Maybe an unpopular take but hear me out when I say that spikes are back. Gone are the days where spiked golf shoes felt like bricks under your feet. In 2026 they are just as comfortable as anything else you might gravitate to but with the added benefit of a pretty nice thing to have in golf, traction. I’m still a believer in a spiked golf shoe giving you the best chance at smoking a drive without falling over so why not give yourself the advantage. The creme de la creme in this category still feels like its the FootJoy Premier Series and seeing some previews of the 2026 model feels like thats going to continue this year. Jason Day and Pantyr are also undoubtedly making one of cleanest models out there and I like what Sun Day Red is up to with the Pioneer Magnolia model. After all, shoes make the (wo)man right?

Non-Traditional Details

Lets deviate from the standard 3 button polo and get into something fun. Brands are doing zippered plackets, johnny collars, pop-overs, spread collars and more. This is an easy way to put some personality into an outfit without straying too far into something you might feel you can only wear a few times a season. The Public Drip spread collar polo is a good example of this. Different, but done subtly.

The Gear

This the area to go buck wild in. Golf gear has gotten SO good and so individual over the last few years and I’m loving everything about it. Let’s break it down with a few standout items.

The Bags

We golfers love to obsess over our golf bag, and I’ll be damned if anyone tells me I can’t be. It’s the home for memorabilia from epic courses, a bag tag for the lucky ones with membership, and more importantly, the thing that carries literarlly all your golf stuff. So I say the obsession is warranted. Now before getting into the actual contents of the bag, we first need A bag. I’m going to assume you walk (bc you should if you’re able) so we’ll focus this on traditional stand bags, and look at some lightweight carry bags, or the “sunday” bag. There’s a lot of familiarity with the Ping Hoofer or Titleist Players bag, both are great bags in their own respects, but to put the smaller guys on a pedestal for a second, the Jones Rover Stand Bag is a beauty. The Bone/Olive Night colourway is perfection and if you see it in stock, get it before its gone. On the lighter side, Mackenzie is the original and the GOAT for a reason. When I can consistently put the ball in play and don’t feel like I need to always have 6 sleeves of balls in my bag for every round, this is what I’ll be hoofing around.

Headcovers

Alright on this one you’ve got some research to do cause the assortment of headcovers these days are both incredible and overwhelming. Two standouts thought. Sentinel - A focus on the finest material and craftsmanship. Expect exceptional fabrics from Japanese textile mills or anywhere else producing the best material. Gumtree Golf & Nature Club - Another masterclass in textile. Expect old army surplus material or a handwoven rug turned into your next headcover. A strong brand mission and incredible products.

One day Gray's will have all of the above, until then, hit up these retailers and get the goods while they have em!

Play well,
